The Toy Fox Terrier was created in the early 20th century when American breeders of Smooth Fox Terriers crossed their litter runts with toy dogs like Chihuahuas and Italian Greyhounds. They began as barnyard ratters but soon gained popularity as circus performers. They are said to make great companions for owners with a good sense of humor.
