A box of 8 notes printed on fine Ivory card stock, envelopes and matching seals featuring the Canaan Dog. The Canaan Dog is the national dog of Israel. It's ancestors were the working companions of the ancient Israelites. When the Romans drove the Israelites out of Judea many of their dogs were left behind and settled in the Negev Desert, where they survived and, for the most part, lived undomesticated until the 20th century. After the foundation of the State of Israel, sentry dogs were needed to patrol isolated Jewish settlements and otherwise train as K-9s for the fledgling Israeli army. So began the re-domestication of the Canaan Dog. Though very clever, loyal and trainable, Canaan Dogs still retain the rugged self-reliance of desert dogs.
